Some of you might think why it is only 10 minutes learning video per day but why not 1 hour or something. When we try to search for something on YouTube or Google, we may notice there are many content videos saying, โ€œ10 minutes of learning the basic Chinese, 10 minutes learning to improve your Calculus for who doesnโ€™t have the strong foundations, etcโ€. Letโ€™s going to the point that why the 10 minutes video is more popular than the other videos. The ever first reason for this is a short clip (around 5 to 10 minutes) helps students learn the information without being overloaded or losing your focus. Longer videos, on the other hand, are also effective โ€“ however, their total lengths should typically be limited to no more than 30 minutes. Mentioning the other former studentsโ€™ learning experiences in their HSC revision, 10 minutes tutorial videos can be used as a tool to quickly recap everything you have learnt from your school notes, and this is able to help you reassure how much you understand your HSC subjects, i.e.: Maths, Chemistry, English, etc. You can maximise the amount of time you watch in a day, however, your mental health is very much important in this stage so donโ€™t overwork yourself too much and give yourself a โ€œtime-offโ€ for the next better studying progress.

This is one of the most effective learning techniques that all the former high schoolers who always used to revise their HSC examinations. It is called โ€œRule of Thumb โ€“ 30 minutes study with timer & rest up in 10 minutes and repeatโ€. All you need to do is to get yourself a room which has less distracting tools, i.e: your mobile phone, ensure the room has some natural lights so the quality of ventilation can improve the atmosphere of your learning space, and last but not least, your digital alarm for the timer.ย  After finishing the setup, now you can start your first self-learning in your new room. Ensure to maximise your concentration on your study, work on the full model of focus, and after the timer is alarmed, you need to stop what you are doing with your study and go get some fresh air.

Give yourself some โ€œtime-offโ€ because if you overwork, you wonโ€™t be able to understand what the topic you are reading. Most importantly, please always get yourself hydrated.

You will never get motivated or know what you are doing unless you know what your daily plan is. Avoid procrastinating and start planning your daily goal NOW! You will be very thankful after you did it. Itโ€™s very dangerous and risky if you leave things at the last minute and it is totally fine if you couldnโ€™t finish the goal that you have listed out on your note but please be self-disciplined about what you want to achieve within a week. For example: if you couldnโ€™t finish your 1 goal on Monday, you can write that goal on your Tuesday section but please prioritise finishing it before starting the new one.

Like part 3, your mental health is very important at this stage due to the serious pandemic and upcoming HSC examination. โ€œWork hard but donโ€™t forget to play hardโ€, you deserve to take a break once per week, retreat yourself from the study space that you have set up, do some outdoor exercises or yoga could help. Getting enough sleep, especially according to the CDC Healthy Schoolsโ€™ information, โ€œteen from 13 to 18 years old need 8 to 10 hours per 24 hours to maximise their overall health and wellbeing. This would allow them to get the proper amount of sleep at night to help stay focused, improved concentration, and improve academic performance.

**Optional: you can use your essential oil, i.e.: Lavender to release your nerves and sleep well

Studying doesnโ€™t always have to take place in your form or high school library. They may be more convenient, but research has shown that a new environment and a change could promote better memory recall. A quiet, relaxing space where you can focus and get work done is the best-recommended space for your HSC revision. By dedicating a particular area to your schoolwork, you can train your brain to focus exclusively on studying, and not your list to-dos or other distractions. For more creativity, you can create your space to look even more lively with the use of a window, as shown below.
